As production line speeds increase, traditional techniques for detecting leaking aerosol cans become impractical. In the past, for low-speed lines (< 100 cans/minute), leaks were detected by operators monitoring for bubbles escaping from cans in large, costly-to-operate water baths. For medium and high speed lines, alternative techniques have been used i.e. Acoustic, Flame ionisation detection (FID) and Pressure monitoring systems, not without their issues, Acoustic sensors are sensitive to background noise in the factory. Pressure monitoring systems are large, costly, rotary, multi head systems. FID systems place a flame in the zone requiring extensive safety measures to be implemented in order to ensure safe operation, and additionally require continual calibration using hydrogen gas.
Cascade Technologies have developed a range of integrated on-line Leak Detection systems (CT2211) capable of detecting and rejecting leaking aerosol cans on production lines up to 500 cans/minute (cpm). The CT2211 system provides 100% leak testing of the can by sampling air from around the full height of the can using an air sampling arch fitted to the production line. The system is contactless, thereby ensuring there is no product damage.
Cascade offers four Leak Detection system variants, Bronze (up to 90 cpm), Silver (up to 140 cpm), Gold (up to 220 cpm) and Platinum (up to 500 cpm). By offering four variants, our customers can cost-effectively implement on-line Leak Detection systems in accordance with their line speed requirements. With a minimal footprint (less than 1 meter of free line length), the CT2211 system can be easily installed in both new and existing production lines.

Clayton sells valves within a niche segment of the aerosol market. We deal mainly with viscous and foaming products in the area of food and industrial type products. Throughout our 66 year history, we have been involved in all facets of aerosols as component supplier (valves, covers, accessories, dispensing systems, etc.), marketer (Clayton was the inventor of disposable whipped topping in the USA, licensed the product to be filled by dairies around the USA and did the national marketing), formulator, and filler. As a result, we are well versed in all aspects of aerosol products. PSG offers complete turnkey lines for monobloc aluminum aerosol cans and bottles. Aerosol spray cap "Jill" was launched at the Aerosol & Dispensing Forum. This elegant cap has a horizontal spray and has been especially designed for female cosmetic applications, such as deodorants and hair sprays. Jill is fitted with Plasticum's patented Integrated Spray technology. The first launch in the series has a diameter of 52 mm.
"Sustainability" was (and still is) one of the major topics in 2011. With the capacity of 600 million tin cans in a year, each of our lines focused on specific diameters such as 45, 49, 52, 57 and 65. Our tin aerosol product specifications are made in conformity with quality standards used everywhere in the world. With the basic material tin, aerosols are produced with electrolytical coating and developed CTP printing techniques.
As the technological and global market leader in metal forming, Schuler supplies machines, production lines, dies, process know-how and services for the entire metalworking industry. The company employs around 5,200 people and is represented by its own facilities and sales offices in 40 nations. For the metal packaging industry, Schuler supplies cupping systems and impact extrusion presses. With new products for this branch, a significantly growth for the next years is expected. Schuler's new Icon V-Drive: A promising start
Schuler has developed a vertical bodymaker, the "Icon V-Drive", which combines a cupper and bodymaker by using the D&I or DWI-Technology. So far, several thousand aerosol cans have been produced. Compared to conventionally extruded aerosol cans, the weight could be reduced by almost 40 percent Technically, it can also be retrofitted to existing aerosol can and bottle lines - whether they are made from aluminum alloy or tin sheet. The machine is fed with discs provided by raw material suppliers and Service Centers, but customers can also produce them themselves. As there is no coil handling, neither storage nor waste logistics are needed. The technology offers a sustainable and flexible solution that also suits smaller lots and smaller enterprises perfectly.
Schuler's new X-150S - high performance impact extrusion press:
the newly developed X-150S is equipped with a hydrostatic slide guiding system which offers high precision and high speed performance. The fastest impact extrusion press (150t) for manufacturing aerosol cans can be operated at a speed of 300 spm for product diameters up to 45 mm and lengths of 230 mm. The new press has been installed recently at one of the leading aerosol manufacturers in Europe.

IMF Engineering Hybrid Polymerization Oven: thanks to this new technology for polymerization ovens, a double heating system is employed: gas for quick reactivity, electricity for efficiency and stability controlled by software that optimizes the switch from gas to electricity. The advantages are: energy saving, reduction of CO2.
