Aerosol mousses for the food market comprise two major market segments: the professional product market and the mass market, which is currently limited to whipped cream to the tune of 98%. In the case of food aerosols, the main challenge is the aesthetics in order to offset their rather cold look. Changes in the shapes and varnishes, for example, could give aerosols a better image. As for sustainable development, it will certainly entail greater use of compressed gas aerosols. As Aerosol Forum is a hub for exchanges of knowledge on new technologies, the next theme might be the use of these compressed gases as a technology worth promoting for the sake of sustainable development. The specific difficulties involved in the use of compressed gases and the technological solutions to remedy these difficulties might in particular be addressed.

Reckitt Benckiser has launched an initiative to reduce the carbon foot print of aerosol products by 20% by 2020; we have to find alternative systems.

During the innovation workshop, we had on our table manufacturers of aerosols, packaging providers, whipped cream manufacturers and brand owners. All the benefit of the aerosol is preservation, convenience, functionality, dosing, consistent quality, hygiene because it is hermetically sealed!

We have several types of inhalers that are currently on the market; one of them is a pressurised aerosol that is mainly used to treat asthma or broncho-pulomonary diseases. The aerosol dosing system enables the patient to know whether there is any medicine left in the can. Aerosol Forum is an interesting venue, particularly given the topic of pharmaceutical use.

With the Paris Aerosol Restaurant, we have created new interest and shown what can be done in aerosol: vegetables mousse, fruit mousse, mango mousse... When we have to prepare some meals or appetizers, aerosol is practical. The food market for aerosol is growing; we have to educate the big companies, to promote this market. We are trying to develop products that do not exist on the market in traditional packaging where aerosol provides for full user safety like chocolate mousses, flavoured mousses or seasonings. Paris Aerosol Restaurant was an excellent initiative. Personally speaking, this demonstration proved most enlightening, both in terms of the foie gras mousse and the French-style pea mousse. We need to adapt this to our product portfolio. The outstanding feature of Aerosol Forum is the friendly atmosphere and single area where we can meet all the players in the field in addition to our partners in a targeted way. We must convey a better image of aerosols for the sake of consumers.

Aerosol and health go hand in hand. To treat asthma and chronic bronchitis, aerosols make it possible to reach the lungs directly thanks to the size of the particles; the spray enables the molecule to reach the alveoli. Aerosols are small, practical; one can carry them round and they do not get dirty. To stand apart from competition, we have to find the means to innovate, through design, and simplify patients' lives through aerosol use. Aerosol Forum grows bigger every year; it enables us to meet our partners.
