Wednesday 8 February, morning: Health products and drugs: the advantages of dispensing systems

This session, chaired by Nathalie Thys, GLAXOSMITHKLINE, will give us an overview of the latest « Dispensing Technologies » and enable us to understand and identify the unknown extractables in packaging materials, take stock of good practices in screening for extractables and leachables in orally inhaled and nasal drugs, explore new trends and solutions in nasal spray, study dispensing technologies in terms of design, use and safety and, in conclusion, with the National Pharmaceutical Academy, receive an update on anti-microbial preservatives and substances inducing endocrine disorders.

 

After the break, Paris Aerosol & Dispensing Awards Ceremony

This event is designed, each year, to reward and promote technological innovations and new applications for aerosols and dispensing systems.

 

« Paris Aerosol Restaurant »

As people are increasingly eating out – every other meal in the USA, 1 in 5 or 7 in Europe – ever larger numbers of catering professionals are using aerosols for sauces, mousses, spices, culinary decoration, etc.  This second edition of the « Paris Aerosol Restaurant » will be a wonderful opportunity to talk with experts about both existing products and projects in the pipeline.

 

Wednesday afternoon : Cosmetics and dispensing technologies : recent advances

Jay Gouliard, Vice President Global Strategy and Innovation materials & labels business, Avery Dennison, will chair this « cosmetics » session, the leading market for aerosols and dispensing systems. « Sound Signature » will be the first topic addressed. It will highlight the notion of an « acoustic signature » and its importance for consumers. This will be followed by AIRLESS, from legislation to practice. The topical issue of « dry shampoo » will be a good example of « return to the future ». Then, we will plunge into the technology of aerosol can production, sustainable development, quality control and the potential of « SLEEVE » technology for decoration.
This first day will conclude with a friendly drink, a good opportunity for discussions with speakers and exhibitors.

 

Thursday 9 February, morning, « Innovation Workshop »

Chaired by Michel Fontaine, President of the CNE (National Packaging Council), France, the morning will enable us to explore three topics :

  • Electronic spray formation systems
  • With Nicolas Duru, Electronic Lab. Manager, L'Oréal, and Jay Gouliard, Vice President Global Strategy and Innovation materials & labels business, Avery Dennison, participants will explore:

      - Which techniques for which applications ;
      - The place of aerosol and complementarities, possibilities for hybridisation ;
      - Obstacles to development and issues linked to environmental impact.

       

  • Which AIRLESS systems for which uses ?
  • Dr Christine Lafforgue, Dermopharmacology & Cosmetology Unit, Pharmaceutical Faculty, Université Paris Sud 11, France ; Osnat Lustig, VP Packaging Development, COTY EUROPE BEAUTY  SA and Dr Pascale Gauthier, Pharmacist, PhD, lecturer, Pharmaceutical Faculty, Clermont-Ferrand, France, will moderate exchanges on : The fields of application ; Production ; Prospects for development at a time when regulatory developments and consumers are pushing for a drop in preservatives. 

     

  • Triggers
  • Xavier Camidebach, Sales and Marketing Director Europe, Precision, and Michel Fontaine, President of the CNE, National Packaging Council, will drive the work of experts on ergonomics ; triggers on aerosols : what are the advantages ? Refills ; Safety.

     

Thursday afternoon : Aerosol Developments : recent advances

With Eric Scheid, Purchasing Director, Danone, France, we will take stock of migration from plastic packaging – not only a problem in food ? Powder coatings for aerosol cans and tubes ; Niche and technical applications for the future of aerosols ; Triggers : recent advances and prospects ; Innovations and niche market applications and bridging the gap between aerosols and trigger sprays.
